The Town will allow the use of 4 inches by 8-inch plots to gardeners on a yearly basis. The cost to Southbridge residents is currently free per plot per year. Plots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The plots are available from March 1 to October 31 each year. Residents are responsible for planting and maintaining their individual plots and all are responsible for keeping the community garden clean.
The community gardens are located on Chestnut Street (allocated to the Cops N Kids program), Cross Street, and Worcester Street, which is handicap accessible. The Town in coordination with the Center of Hope will provide a planter box, soil, water barrel, and compost bin. Residents can plant flowers, fruits, and vegetables.
Reserve your plot now by going to the Health Department at 41 Elm Street to fill out an application or download an application below. For more information, call 508-764-4252.
We are working on a guide that will help you plan and care for your garden. The download link will be available on this page when it is ready.
